Zoé Tong, described by the owners as a "modern Austin Chinese" restaurant, will be opening in the site of the former Eastcider and Uncle Billy's. Eater Austin goes into more detail, but this tidbit especially stood out:
"[co-founder] Hyland is excited to use their inherited smoker on the property (from when the address had been Uncle Billy’s). “I’m going to smoke everything I possibly can,” he says. This could mean Chinese sticky ribs, chicken, honey, tofu, fruits, and vegetables."
That sounds delicious. I'm looking forward to trying out this restaurant this Fall (when we can only hope it isn't 100+ degrees every day).
[An interesting side note: co-founder Matthew Hyland is also one of the co-founders of Emmy Squared Pizza. I recently visited the Navy Yard location in DC and was impressed by the Detroit-style pizza as well as the cocktails.]
