Creative Fund Trivia Night February 2026

Do you enjoy live team trivia and helping to raise money for Austin artists?  If you said yes either count, then you should join us for the next Creative Fund trivia night on February 4th in the new Poeta in the East Austin Hotel (register in link) .  Our last trivia night fundraisers have been a blast.  We have five rounds of live trivia (I will be co-hosting) and a picture puzzle round.  If you don't do well at trivia, there are other amusing side games in which you can participate.  

Who knows?  Maybe I'll ask a question about the Grand Canyon.  Or, maybe not.  You'll have to show up to find out.

We're on for a Creative Fund Trivia Night fundraiser this Thursday at 7p (on Zoom).  Visit the Facebook event page for more information on how to buy tickets.  

The Creative Fund raises money to help Austin performing artists pay venue rental fees.

There is a virtual trivia fundraiser for The Creative Fund in the works.  Yes, I will be co-hosting.

Trivia Night Update

 

As you may know, we had to cancel our live and in-person August trivia night.   We are currently aiming for a return to live trivia in mid-late January.  I'll announce the date/location here, but you can also follow the Floyd Real Estate Trivia Series on Facebook*.

*We have no plans to move trivia to the metaverse.

We're going to do one for The Creative Fund (which I co-host) in the next couple of months.  Details are being worked out at this time.  

Also, there is a Floyd Real Estate sponsored trivia night (which I host) in the works.  Not many details yet, but it will be live and in person.

My Street, About an Hour Before the Blackout

Last Monday I woke up to the realization that the "rolling" blackouts which started at 2a weren't so rolling and that my car was trapped in the driveway.  Today I woke up to sunshine and the news that my part of the neighborhood no longer has to boil water.  That's quite a turnaround.   

Austinites: I hope you have running water back at this point.  If you do not, the Statesman has an ongoing list of places to get water.  Also, check my Twitter as I have been retweeting water related updates (and follow those sources, as I'm not updating all of the time).  

Austin Realtors: ABOR has a winter storm recovery checklist you can reference.  

Trivia Fans: Floyd Real Estate trivia night is still scheduled for 3/4.  Stay tuned to this blog and I'll update on whether The Creative Fund's trivia night will go forth on Thursday or will be postponed.  

Trivia: Floyd Real Estate Trivia Returns March 4th

 

We'll be back (virtually) on March 4th.  I'll be hosting.  Fundraising plan needs to be finalized but it is probable we will ask for donations to the Central Texas Food Bank (as we did for much of 2020).

I have another online Floyd Real Estate Trivia Night coming up on 8/26.   Form teams of 1-6.   There will be 5 spoken rounds comprised of my typical choices for categories.  The Zoom room opens at 6:30, with the game lasting from 7-9.

Fusebox Trivia: Cancelled

In light of what's going on with the coronavirus (COVID-19) we're cancelling the Fusebox Festival trivia night scheduled for April 1st.  It will be rescheduled.  In the interim, I'll use some of my social distancing time to research more great questions.

Trivia: Fusebox Festival Fundraiser on April 1st (now cancelled)

No, this is not an April Fools prank.  Yes, I am hosting a trivia fundraiser for the Fusebox Festival on April 1st at the Native Hostel in Austin.  It will be the usual format: 5 live rounds and 1 puzzle/matching/etc round.  There will be prizes as well (I don't yet know what they are).  Check out the Facebook event page for more information (also, please RSVP there).

Here are some main points to consider:

• The Native Hostel is a cool venue.  You'll have a good time there.  Their old fashioneds and other cocktails are great.  They even introduced my wife to the concept of orange cider with bitters (she was impressed).   
• The Fusebox Festival* is awesome.  Here's a description of Fusebox:  "a global hub for live performance. Fusebox Festival presents a variety of work from local and international artists, helping to move this art form forward by supporting some of the most innovative artists of our time."
• Fusebox is free to attend.  Fundraisers like FuseBash and our upcoming trivia night make this possible.

I'll attempt to post more about Fusebox as the festival itself approaches.

As for trivia:  I hosted 11 trivia fundraisers last year.  This year, we're off to a good start having held trivia nights this year for Kids in a New Groove and for the Sobering Center.  Both of these events were held at Lavaca Street Bar (downtown) and were lots of fun.

UPDATE on 3/16/20:  This event is cancelled because of coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns.  We will reschedule the event for a time when it is safe to hold.

Trivia: The Creative Fund's July Trivia Fundraiser

Join us on July 17th at Austin's Scoot Inn for a live team trivia fundraiser benefitting The Creative Fund.  As always, form teams of 4-6 to participate in 5 rounds of questioning and 1 round of picture puzzles.  Come with a team, or come alone and find a team to join.  

Tickets are $20 per person and they are available now.  Proceeds go to The Creative Fund and its efforts to help Austin's performing artists afford rental fees at local venues.  

Remember:  outside is hot, but trivia happens in air-conditioned comfort.

Dave Floyd, Hosting Trivia

A lot has happened on the trivia front this year.  First of all, Creative Fund trivia night in January was quite the success.   In March, Sara and I started our "Floyd Real Estate Presents: Trivia" series of fundraisers.  The first one was in March (at the Tavern), with the Fusebox Festival as the beneficiary.

Here's the upcoming schedule:

• April 10: Trivia fundraiser for The Creative Fund.  This will be at The Scoot Inn.  Social hour starts at 6:30, with gameplay to begin at 7:30.
• April 24: Trivia fundraiser with the Texas Exes Young Alumni.  This one is raising money for scholarships and will be held at Little Woodrow's on Parmer.  You do not have to be a University of Texas alum to join in the fun.  
• May 15:  Second in the Floyd Real Estate sponsored series.  This one will be at the Tavern and benefitting Austin Habitat for Humanity.  

All of these trivia nights follow the same format: 5 rounds of live questions and one picture/puzzle round.  Teams of 4-6 are suggested... but, if you are solo or in a pair feel free to come on down as we'll help you find a group (and hey, that sounds like a fun way to meet new people).
